JMSB Career Management Services


The philosophy of Career Management Services (CMS), which is based in the John Molson School of Business, seeks to enable students to effectively apply career management principles. CMS also aims to build and sustain productive relationships with our partners in the business community.

Our business model emphasizes the application of modern career management principles to differentiate our students. We proactively coach our students to enhance the skill sets that increase their confidence and abilities to manage their brand of talent towards attractive career opportunities, both now and in the future. We build sustainable business partner relationships with the business community in Quebec, Canada, and abroad. We develop key strategic alliances with our alumni community, our faculty members, our JMSB executive, other Concordia University Career Management / CO-OP centres, and business schools across Canada.

CMS is proud to offer an extensive variety of career management services to all current John Molson School of Business (JMSB) students and alumni. Users of our services are expected to adhere to professional standards of conduct at all times, as these interactions reflect upon the reputation of the JMSB and CMS. By adhering to the Principles of Professional Conduct framework, you will have access to our services and a rewarding career management process. As well, our clients will fully appreciate this approach as it clearly demonstrates the professionalism that exists with the JMSB community.

Are you a PhD student or postdoc wondering what comes next? Whether you already have a direction in mind or are still exploring the possibilities, PhD Career Connect will help you uncover your strengths, articulate your transferable skills, and expand your career horizons so you can move forward with clarity and confidence toward the paths that inspire you.  

The program occurs over an 8-week period and includes workshops centered on building a professional resume and LinkedIn profile, identifying your transferable skills and strengths, mastering job search and networking techniques and obtaining concrete feedback and skills through experiential learning. The workshops are designed and delivered in a strategic manner allowing you to build upon each week's lessons to ensure you feel confident about forging your career path.  

Upon completion of the program, you will be invited to a networking conference in June where you will have ample opportunity to network with employers, hear success stories from PhD Alumni and learn more about various non-traditional career opportunities.  

You will come out of this training having uncovered new career paths to apply your doctoral education, gained new and meaningful connections with both employers and fellow colleagues, and feeling confident about the strengths and value you bring to the labor market.

Whether you already have a direction in mind or are still exploring the possibilities, PhD Career Connect will help you uncover your strengths, articulate your transferable skills, and expand your career horizons so you can move forward with clarity and confidence toward the paths that inspire you.  

The program occurs over an 8-week period and includes workshops centered on building a professional resume and LinkedIn profile, identifying your transferable skills and strengths, mastering job search and networking techniques and obtaining concrete feedback and skills through experiential learning. The workshops are designed and delivered in a strategic manner allowing you to build upon each week's lessons to ensure you feel confident about forging your career path.  

Upon completion of the program, you will be invited to a networking conference in June where you will have ample opportunity to network with employers, hear success stories from PhD Alumni and learn more about various non-traditional career opportunities.  

You will come out of this training having uncovered new career paths to apply your doctoral education, gained new and meaningful connections with both employers and fellow colleagues, and feeling confident about the strengths and value you bring to the labor market.
