Description

Email is one of the main modes of communication in graduate school and professional settings. Whether you are writing to a professor, supervisor, employer, collaborator, or colleague, strong email writing skills can help you communicate effectively, make better use of your time, and demonstrate professionalism.

 

This workshop will cover best practices for email writing and organization. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences and participate in email-writing activities.

 

 

 

 


Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

 

- Identify common components of an email and the appropriate context in which to use them;

- Apply best practices of email writing;

- Evaluate examples of well-written professional emails;

- Discuss time-management issues related to email writing and how to overcome them.


Leaders Information

Althea Thompson (she/her) is a PhD candidate in the Department of History; an Academic Skills Workshop Facilitator for GradProSkills; and the Team Lead for Concordia’s Writing Centre. Her doctoral research investigates the “teaching” and learning of history on social media, using Russian history as a case study.
