Description

Incorporating accessibility and inclusivity in research can be empowering and overwhelming at the same time. This two-part training program offers an open and interactive space for research assistants and graduate students to delve into equity concepts and principles and provides tools to help foster a research environment that is both enriching and accessible to diverse perspectives.

Learning Objectives

Through activities and discussion, participants will learn to:

  • Unpack key concepts in equity 

  • Explore practical ways to integrate equity, accessibility, and inclusion principles into research frameworks.

  • Recognize and challenge barriers to accessible and inclusive research 

  • Discuss and reflect on best practices to enhance the inclusivity and accessibility of research endeavors


Leaders Information

Racha Cheikh-Ibrahim is a seasoned higher education professional with over fifteen years of combined research, training, facilitation, mentorship, partnership, and professional development experience. As an equity advisor at Concordia University, Racha works to embed equity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility in the student experience. She also supports the advancement of equity at Concordia through active collaboration, consultation, training and educational programming, and other initiatives.

Racha is a Concordia Alum with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Chemistry. She is passionate about building an inclusive environment and supportive spaces for Concordia’s diverse student community and ensuring access to equitable opportunities for everyone.
