Coworking sessions for graduate writing productivity | GRTP251

Description

Summer can feel academically quieter, but it’s also a valuable time to make progress on your research papers, projects, or thesis. Graduate work can sometimes feel isolating, but you do not have to go through it alone. From May 25 to June 29 (Mondays), you are invited to join online co-working group sessions led by GradProSkills.

Each session follows a Pomodoro-style format designed to support focused work and accountability while fostering meaningful connections with peers:

1:00 PM – Check-in, goal setting, and introductions

1:15 PM – First 45-minute focus session

2:00 PM – Break

2:15 PM – Second 45-minute focus session

3:00 PM – Break

3:15 PM – Final 45-minute focus session

4:00 PM – Debrief and reflection

Throughout this 3-hour session, you’ll benefit from dedicated and structured time to focus on writing or other academic tasks in a supportive virtual environment. These sessions aim to help you build consistency, reduce isolation and create space for meaningful progress on your work.

These free sessions are open to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers currently working on a thesis, research paper, or other tasks that require dedicated focus time.

Learning Objectives

After participating in these co-working sessions, participants will be able to:

  • Apply structured focused strategies to support sustained academic work and productivity

  • Reflect on their writing goals and progress and explore strategies for overcoming setbacks in a supportive peer environment

  • Develop more consistent and sustainable work habits and strategies through accountability and community connections.
