GPTK724 - TA Toolkit Check-in



Description

This session is designed to create a space for Teaching Assistants to share tips and strategies with one another. Participants will have the chance to share and discuss real-life challenges they have encountered during the semester in relation to the following topics:   
 
  • Grading and feedback: Tips for success   
  • Creating an inclusive classroom   
  • Navigating the TA / prof relationship   
  • Planning engaging lessons   
  • Dealing with challenging situations in the classroom   
 
The format of this session will include small group discussions for participants to explore one of the five topics, as well as larger group discussions facilitated by members of the Centre for Teaching and Learning.   
 
In addition to connecting with peers from various departments within the university, this session will serve as an opportunity to identify the current needs of Teaching Assistants and develop new resources and supports 

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

 

  • Connect with and support peers working as Teaching Assistants at Concordia 
  • Locate resources / support services at the University to address concerns
  • Identify gaps in TA support that the CTL can assist with
