GRTR201 - Visual thinking for researchers

Description

Looking for new ways to increase the reach and impact of your research and distinguish yourself as a researcher?

Whether you're publishing a paper, applying for funding, presenting at a conference, sharing your work on social media, or engaging with the public, the ability to communicate visually can make your research more memorable.

In this experiential workshop, you'll work with your own research to explore how to decide what information matters most before translating those ideas into a visual format. This isn't a graphic design workshop – you don't need to be an artist. Instead, you'll develop a practical framework for thinking visually so you can communicate your research with greater clarity.

This session is offered in collaboration with Volt-Age Concordia

Learning Objectives

By participating, you'll:

- Gain a valuable communication skill that can help your research stand out in publications, presentations, funding applications, and professional portfolios.

- Discover alternatives to traditional research dissemination including visual abstracts, infographics, and social media graphics.

- Practice designing visual communication with a specific audience in mind.

- Develop an initial visual concept based on your own research.
