GPLD680 - Take the leap!

Description

GAIN CLARITY, RESILIENCE & ENGAGEMENT in just 6 weeks.

Take the Leap! Program is ready for a fourth experience at Concordia for Fall 2024. This edition is tailored to graduate students and offered in partnership with Queen’s University’s School of Graduate Studies. There will be a mix of graduate students from both universities.
The award-winning Take the Leap! program guides and supports students to ground themselves in purpose and prosperity as they pursue their graduate studies and beyond. Though a series of reflective, thought-provoking activities students discover, create, embrace, and breathe life into their living legacies. An important first step to completing their studies and graduating deeply rooted in their personal cause that will impact their communities and the world.

The group will meet on Saturday mornings over zoom for two hours, from October 26 to November 30.  Each week will also require participants to complete reflective activities and readings, as well as meet with their small peer-mentoring groups. Last, between December 2-14, participants will have a final one-on-one conversation with a mentor to confirm their living legacy plan.

Learning Objectives

The goal is to engage Leapsters (those enrolled in a Take the Leap! program) to complete a living legacy plan that reflects a deep vision grounded in meaning and purpose.

By the end of the program, Leapsters will be able to use the growth framework to:
  • Acquire self-assessment skills which lead to purpose-focused decisions.
  • Enhance clarity, engagement, and resilience in navigating life choices.
  • Apply purpose-grounded choices in 80% of decisions when uncertainty occurs.
The course is designed to:

  • Help you engage in deep reflection through thought-provoking questions.
  • Share those reflections with others in a safe space (you will each be part of a group) both online and on Zoom.
  • Encourage action today and in the future.
  • Guide you from start to finish along this adventure.

Participant Feedback

"This was one of the most important courses I’ve taken at Concordia University. After completing multiple self-awareness and goal setting exercises, I now have more clarify of what I want to achieve in my tech career!"

-    Jagan Raajan, MACS

"Having graduated from Concordia’s Ph.D. program in Humanities in 2021 and having been teaching since then, I was at a crossroad personally and professionally when I saw the advertisement of the Take The Leap Program (TLP). Without any hesitation, I knew I had to join in order to anchor myself. The fact that the zoom meetings were scheduled on Saturdays’ morning made it possible for me to attend all meetings and be able to graduate from the program. The TLP was an amazing experience for me on all levels: not only did I get the answers to my questions; but I also found clarity about what I want in life."

-    Farida Abla, Ph.D.
