Open educational resources (OERs) have gained considerable momentum across Canada and worldwide because they significantly lower the cost of course materials – enabling access for all. As part of Open Access Week, this session will give an OER overview. We will search for discipline-specific OERs and discuss the challenges and significant benefits of integrating OERs into course content, including social justice within curricula and the publishing ecosystem.

Rachel Harris is a Scholarly Publishing Librarian at Concordia Library. Her areas of teaching and research support have included cinema, music, dance, and political science. She maintains her research interests in the intersections between art history and book history and has taught undergraduate seminar courses as well as the “Graduate Seminar in University Teaching” for Fine Arts (GPTK704).
