Leaders Information

Thais Campos de Oliveria: Thais Campos de Oliveira is a postdoctoral researcher at Concordia University, where she started in June 2024. With a multidisciplinary background, Thais is completing her Ph.D. in Forest Sciences at Laval University, Canada. Her current research focuses on genomics and transcriptomics, areas in which she seeks to apply her diverse knowledge. Thais holds a Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, and a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Faculdade Oswaldo Cruz in São Paulo. Her professional experience ranges from working as a pharmacist and pharmacovigilance analyst to academic roles such as teaching assistant in forest pathology.  

Jamie Jelinski: Jamie Jelinski is a cross-disciplinary scholar of visual culture, most recently in the context of tattooing and images related to crime. He received his PhD in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University with support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and is currently a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Art History at University of Toronto. Previously, he held an Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of History at Dalhousie University and a Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. Jelinski has been a Visiting Scholar at NSCAD University and Queen’s University Belfast. Jelinski’s first book, Needle Work: A History of Commercial Tattooing in Canada, was published by McGill-Queen’s University Press in June 2024. He is currently working on a second book, tentatively titled Unseen Images: Crime, Access to Information, and Visual Culture, which is under contract with Wilfrid Laurier University Press.

Kishan Italiya: Dr. Kishan Italiya is a senior post-doctoral fellow in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Montreal Hospital Research Center (CRCHUM). In his current role, he is working on a project focused on targeted drug delivery for pancreatic and prostate cancer. He completed his first postdoctoral fellowship as a Canderel Postdoctoral Fellow in biomedical engineering at CRCHUM, where he researched ultrasound-targeted drug delivery systems combined with oncolytic viruses for breast cancer. Dr. Italiya holds an M.S. in Pharmaceutics, earning a Gold Medal, from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Lucknow, India, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani), India. An internationally recognized expert, he previously worked at Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., developing innovative drug delivery systems for cancer and COVID-19, with over 20 peer-reviewed publications and three patents. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and holds three patents.

Pascal Doron: Pascal Doran ing, Ph.D. is an accomplished aerospace engineer with over 8 years of hands-on experience at Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), specializing in the design, analysis, and validation of advanced software applications used for developing and optimizing cutting-edge aircraft engine technology. His expertise spans aerodynamics, propulsion, and structural mechanics, enabling him to contribute to innovative solutions in various commercial projects. After earning his Ph.D. from École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Pascal completed an 18-months postdoctoral research internship at P&WC. In addition to his professional engineering career, Pascal has over 10 years of experience as a university lecturer in mechanical engineering at ÉTS. His passion for education has led him to mentor numerous undergraduate and graduate students, guiding them in subjects like fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science. Pascal’s unique blend of industry experience and academic knowledge has made him a respected figure in both fields, where he continues to inspire future engineers.

Tshidi Thaane: Tshidi Thaane (Ph.D.) is a South African born scientist and former premier division rugby player. She completed her Doctorate in Sport Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. Her 1st postdoctoral fellowship was with the department of psychology at Bishop’s University. She is currently undertaking a 2nd postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of rehabilitation sciences at Université Laval where she is involved in two legacy projects conducted from the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche et réadaptation et intégration sociale (Cirris). The first project is on the co-creation of assistive devices for people with disabilities, and the second project is on the design and creation of inclusive airports and aircrafts.
